Seoul Clinic Director Demonstrates Eye-Area RF Technique at Lutronic Academy
Live session reached about 1,400 clinicians; XERF passed 2,000 installations worldwide as of June 2026
The skin is thin and you are working near the orbital rim. That is the whole reason it is difficult, and it was the point of the session.”
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, September 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Dr. Park Tae-oh, director of Relieve Clinic Seoul, ran a live demonstration of periorbital radiofrequency treatment at Cynosure Lutronic Academy Korea on June 13, working on one of the harder areas of the face while roughly 1,400 clinicians watched.— Dr. Park Tae-oh, Director, Relieve Clinic Seoul.
The conference, held under the theme "XERF: Full Face Custom Design RF," drew that audience across online and offline attendance, according to the Korea Economic Daily. The hands-on portion ran from Cynosure Lutronic's affiliated clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, and was streamed to attendees. Park took the eye area, where the skin is thin and the treatment site sits close to the orbital rim.
"The skin is thin and you are working near the orbital rim," Park said. "That is the whole reason it is difficult, and it was the point of the session."
Other presenters included Dr. Jeon Su-il of Jeonsuil Dermatology Clinic, who covered anatomical considerations in treatment planning, and Dr. Kim Ki-tae of Tae Plastic Surgery Clinic, who presented on cumulative energy delivery protocols.
XERF is a monopolar radiofrequency device from Cynosure Lutronic, the first platform the company released after its merger. It adds a 2 MHz frequency to the 6.78 MHz used by earlier radiofrequency systems and allows energy depth to be set across three levels. Treatments are performed without anesthesia.
The device reached the United States market in September 2025, eighteen months after its Korean release, which puts the clinical experience accumulating in Korea ahead of the American installed base. Han Sun-ho, president of commercial operations for Korea and Japan at Cynosure Lutronic, told the conference the platform had passed 2,000 installations worldwide since launch, concentrated in Asia-Pacific and North America.
Park's clinic, in the Apgujeong district of Gangnam, has run the device since it became available in Korea and now operates four XERF units, which the clinic says is the largest number at any single practice in the country. Cynosure Lutronic gave the practice its XERF Loyalty Award for the first half of 2026; the citation credits the manufacturer's own sales records and the highest cumulative purchase volume of genuine XERF tips in Korea over that period.
What that volume buys, in Park's account, is variety rather than a number.
"The count is not the point," he said. "What matters is how different the cases are from one another, and what you take from that. Skin thickness, fat distribution, facial structure — you read those first, then decide the energy and the direction."
The clinic treats consultation and facial assessment as separate steps before any session begins, and says the same device at the same settings can call for a different approach depending on the face in front of it.
It also positions itself around lower-pain treatment, a stance it calls "pain-free treatment." Patients are asked about previous experiences and about what they are worried about, and the answers feed into the plan.
"It does not mean nobody feels anything," Park said. "It means pain should not be the reason someone skips a treatment they want. How the whole visit feels, from the consultation to walking out, is part of the care."
Overseas patients increasingly research the device before traveling and book during a stay in Korea, according to the clinic, which runs consultation and treatment planning in English.
Outcomes from radio frequency treatment vary between individuals, and suitability is determined during consultation with a physician.
